Writing Independent Task写作独立题
[Question]
Is it always right for governments to ask people to move their businesses and houses to provide space for the construction of large structures (new roads, new dams, etc.)?
[Response]
In recent decades, there is increasing debate on whether governments have the right to ask people to move their businesses and houses to provide space for various types of infrastructural projects. While some people believe that this is equivalent to an infringement on their property rights and privacy, I believe that governments should have the right to ask people to relocate their private property in order to benefit the public.
First of all, the main reason for expropriation is to develop infrastructure, recreation space, and public buildings that can be used by everyone. Developing infrastructural projects such as roads, railways, and bridges is necessary to prevent structurally deficient and obsolete infrastructure that can endanger people’s health and lives. Moreover, recreation space such as public parks and gardens provide relaxation, stress relief, and a sense of community to people in the city. Finally, public facilities such as libraries and hospitals offer essential services to people. By asking people to relocate their private property in order to construct large structures, the government is simply prioritizing the needs of the many at the expense of the needs of the few.
In addition, building infrastructure and large public facilities boosts the economy in the long term and creates a significant number of jobs, which is more beneficial to society than preserving the businesses and houses of a minority of people. By launching large-scale infrastructure projects, the government can generate many income opportunities in fields such as construction and manufacturing, which cater to low-income households that are without higher education. These projects would not only give them the opportunity to financially support themselves, but would also help to kick start the economy. Because there are numerous people who are out of work, desperate, and seeking jobs, public construction projects would be incredibly useful in improving their quality of life and helping them get back on their feet.
Lastly, expropriation of businesses and houses generally involves some amount of financial compensation for affected homeowners, which would allow them to rent homes or property elsewhere. Thus, people would not have to worry about losing their homes without compensation and not being able to afford another one. Instead, in most circumstances, they are given an appropriate or even higher sum of money to relocate elsewhere. For example, when my father was asked to move his business from one region of the city to another, the government provided him with enough money to successfully relocate and set up his business. In the end, the region he moved to turned out to be just as convenient and bustling as the previous one.
To conclude, I believe that the government should have the right to ask people to relocate their businesses and houses to construct infrastructure and public buildings because the benefits ultimately outweigh the costs.

实用句型
这几句话中频繁使用了表列举的“such as”。注意,如果“such as”后面列举的信息超过2个,需要用逗号隔开信息,并在最后一个信息前加上“and”,基本格式是“n. + such as A, B, and C”。
2. By asking people to relocate their private property in order to construct large structures, the government is simply prioritizing the needs of the many at the expense of the needs of the few.
“the many”与“the few”呼应,表达了“多数人”与“少数人”的对立关系。
